Boxing Training: Your Key To Physical Fitness
We all know that taking up any kind of sport will greatly improve our physical fitness level. But there is one sport that stands out among the rest when it comes to being a really good fitness program by itself. And that is boxing. For so many years people who have no ambitions of ever going professional have taken up boxing training to help improve their overall wellness and of course, their physique. Boxing can definitely do all of these for you, and more.
Boxing is a great weight maintenance or weight loss program. Because just think about all the calories that you will be burning as you go through a whole hour, or even more, of boxing training. You will also be building up your muscles which are great in increasing the metabolism. The amazing fact is that muscles keep on burning calories even if they are not being used. Just simply being there will help you get into shape.
A further health benefit of undergoing a dedicated boxing training can be found and felt with your future well-trimmed arms. That's right, your arms will be more well-defined. All it takes are just a few punches each day, either through a sparring match or just with a punching bag. When you start to throw those punches, you will be on your way to having a better and stronger set of arms.
In connection with the weight loss benefit of boxing training, boxing is an excellent cardiovascular workout because it combines a lot of aerobics movements to it. Your feet will be moving, your arms are always lifted and punching, and you will be moving all around the ring. It will definitely help you burn a lot of calories and fat if you do boxing on a regular basis.
All of your senses and also your mind are further improved because of boxing training. It is not just for your physical fitness. When two boxers meet in the ring, they play their own version of a mind game as they try their best to evaluate the skills and talent of one another. It also teaches them about correct timing, when to punch and when to hold back and keep your defenses.
There are other important benefits of boxing and we can separate them into three categories. The first category is speed. You will soon gain speed as you progress with your training. Next is resistance. Your body will be more resistant to getting sick. And third is energy. You will be more energetic and you will find that you can last longer during training and therefore it is a sure sign that you are truly getting fit.
You should never rush when you are undergoing your boxing training as this might lead to injuries. Even the professional boxers do everything in moderation and they know the limits of their bodies and do not go beyond that. Stay within your regular training schedule and you will be fit and become a better boxer in just a few weeks.
Technique to power punching/boxing?
I've used search and have seen many posts about improving power but they all focus on muscle strength.
Surely to improve your punching in boxing is not only about the muscle condition but also the technique.
If any of you know of techniques which improve your punches power can you please explain them.
e.g. stepping in, gaining more body rotation etc.
How do you get more power out of a punch?
You can only train so much and after that the dynamics must make the difference, what are these?

I've asked this under a different name before because it didn't get many answers. 1 in fact.
Your answer is repetition, repetition, and more repetition. The more you practice a certain move or punch, the better it will be, power-wise and speed wise. Proper body mechanics, repetition, and heavy bag, that is your answer. You'll need to look up how to properly throw certain punches, because you will not want to develop bad habits or bad form. The rule of thumb is that a punch comes from your foot pushing off the floor, and your torso putting the weight into it. Your arms are simply the deliverers of the power, it doesn't really matter how strong or muscle-built they are (although the more you punch, the more muscle will be built in them). But don't get so carried away on power because if you train purely for power on a heavy bag, your speed will become slower over time. You should punch the air with at least two times as many punches than you throw on the heavy bag if you want to build and maintain speed along with your power. Good luck.
