Proper Fitting Golf Gloves Give You A Better Game

Golf Gloves Can Help Your Game

Loving the game of golf means acquiring all the gear that helps you play well and in comfort. Along with the right set of clubs and balls, having a set of proper fitting golf gloves is important. They can be the difference between painful blisters that cause you to slice the ball into the woods, and a protective second skin that allows you to make that straight shot.

Golf gloves are made from natural leather, synthetic leather-like materials, nylon or other lightweight materials. The climate and weather conditions of the courses at which you play will help you choose the type of glove. You may prefer thinner more breathable materials for warmer climates, or a thicker glove for cooler or wetter play.

Once you choose the material, determine whether you want to wear just one glove, or two. Right-handed players choose a glove for their left hand and the reverse for left-handed golfers. Most wear one glove, but there are advantages in opting for covering both hands.

The hand that grips the club closest to the end, or top hand wears the glove. The purpose for wearing one or even two gloves is to provide you with a better grip on the club. Gloves will keep your grip from slipping from sweaty palms, or blisters from forming from the friction of the club on your hand.

In order to get the most benefit from wearing one or two gloves they need to fit properly. They should fit smoothly and tightly against your skin. No extra material should be visible or felt at the fingertips, or between your fingers. An improper fit will cause the problems that you want to avoid by wearing gloves. Blisters and slipped grip can happen with ill fitting gloves too.

There are many makers of quality gloves. Many of the golf clothing, shoe or club makers offer gloves too. Most golf course pro shops offer gloves for sale, as do athletic supply stores. You can also sort through all the brands and styles on the internet. Whichever brand you choose, proper fit will make all the difference.
